No power to my Thomson DT16300 HDD Top Up set top box?Set just out of 1 year warranty, lost all power last week, power lead proves OK. Took cover off to check for internal power supply fuse, that's also OK.
Suspect it may the power supply board that's failed, can I get it checked and/or exchanged anywhere?

Just repaired my DT16300.
It wouldn't power on, just a ticking noise, which was the hard disk trying to spin up, so I suspected it wasn't receiving adequate power.
I isolated the power board and left it overnight. I then made sure all capacitors were discharged and had a closer look.
I noticed a couple of capacitors near to the small yellow transformer were bulging slightly (I think they're marked C60 and C52 on the board). I replaced these with Maplin part DT69A (1000µF 16V 105°C) and it works perfectly again - didn't even lose any recordings ! Not bad for 80 pence.

had the same problem and notice a ticking sound coming from the power board, no power after what appears to be the power conversion unit. one capacitor does seem to be damaged / brown so will try replacing that one. Beware if you try to change it because the board does hold power even after switching off.

Paul,
Can you advise which capacitor it might be. I've inspected the powersupply PCB and can see no visual signs of component failure.
Thanks,
Mark

As I suspected it was a blown capacitor on the power board. 32p later and it running again.
