hotpoint fufl 2010 p.....fridge freezer..door left open.lights flashing.........supposed to fix by switching off freezer dial until lights go off..then switch on.
took off the control dial with pliers in off position...the shaft of the control dial was not broken, but was very loose on the control shaft...I turned the shaft round the final bit manually to off..it switched off, lights went out, then turned it just enough to switch it back on .(so can put dial in right position)
turned to normal position....now working..in time I will tighten up the shaft somehow....(dont stick anything metal in to turn the shaft, use a plastic tool the same size as the shaft on the dial(I used the dial itself in a different position)

After defrosting turn both temperature dials to lowest then press and hold down super cool and super freeze buttons together until you hear a beep. All done. The flashing lights will now go away. Now turn the temperature dials to your desired settings. Enjoy!!!

I took the back panels off and got rid of the build up of ice. When I switched it back on all the lights started flashing. This went on for some hours as I thought it was getting to temp. Started to get concerned so turned to Internet and found this site. Thanks for the advice, turned both dials off, held the super cool and super freeze buttons down for 3 secs, heard a beep and lights stopped flashing......phew!! Can go to bed without worrying now :-)

I had the same problem with build up of ice in bottom of freezer. After defrosting this (took ages as it was a solid block of ice) the super freeze lights were flashing. I followed the instructions above and now all working fine. Thank you all so much, I was having a bit of a panic.

Thank god for this site. I had over £200 of meat in my freezer which i really wouldnt have been pleased about losing!!

as many people on here i have a hotpoint ff200e frost free fridge freezer (frost free my ass)
i had leaking from the bottom of the drawers and the drain hole was blocked
1. turn off and remove all freezer drawers
2. remove screws(i had 6 to remove) from the the back panel then remove this mine was a little tight but did come out
3. then theres a another panel with some clips on the sides just ease these out and the inner panel should come free becarful the fan is connected to the panel theres enough wire to allow you to unclip the fan from the socket
4. now i found a large block of ice at the bottom of the unit defrost the ice off but be very careful the fins on the unit are very sharp
5. also check the gutter and the drain hole are clear
6. then you can put all back together in reverse order
7. when all back together turn both dials down to off then turn on at the mains and press the two super buttons for 3 seconds and it should beep
8. i then turned both to i care for about 1 hour then turn to normal settings
9.all done and saved over £100 call out of an hotpoint engineer

My symptoms were puddles on the floor for a while, then over icing in the freezer (for 1day) then fridge went warm.
Take off the inner back panned (6 screws) then the panned behind that pulls away. Be careful as the fan cable needs to be disconnected.
I was then faced with a block of ice underneath the heat exchanger.
Melt this with a hair drier and also melt /clear the ice from the drain hole.
As the others have said, turn the dials to minimum, hold the buttons until the beep and you have saved yourself at least £400 :)

Thanks to the posts on this site I fixed my ff200e for free - next time the ice builds up on my FROST FREE fridge freezer I will know what to do straightaway. Hotpoint are rubbish and customer service so unhelpful - tried to sell me a £15 a month policy for a problem they were clearly aware of! Thanks to this site for saving me a fortune!

Had same problems - ice build up in bottom of freezer then weeing on floor and lights flashing for hours after switching back on.Drain hole blocked with ice - so much for frost free.Removed all freezer drawers then took out five screws holding rear panels in - take care when removing 2nd panel with fan cable attached - this simply unplugs from rear housing.Watch your hands on fins of cooling unit - very sharp.Cleared ice from V-channel and drain hole - hot water with salt for latter.Poked wooden skewer down drain hole to ensure clear.Refit in reverse order to removal.Once unit reached operating temperature solved flashing lights as previous answers - turn both dials off, press both buttons for 3+ seconds until beep heard, return dials to usual mid positions.Good luck, hope this helps.

If you don't feel secure in unscrewing the freezer back panel, it'll take up to 3 DAYS for it to defrost with the freezer and fridge off. Don't be tempted to turn it on earlier, water will keep on coming out if you leave it off. I have to do mine every couple of years, but I daresay I'm not really paying enough attention to how warm it's getting in the fridge till my milk goes off within a day.

We had a problem with the ff200e. The lights would flash and it would beep. We turned off both dials and then switched them back on and that dealt with the beeping. It started again after afew hours. Then the frige temperature began to rise. After reading about ice build up at the back we decided to dismantle the freezer as described previously. At this stage we found out that the freezer was starting to defrost. After getting the back off and using the hair dryer, we removed a huge block of ice, which was still there in the sink melting 10 hours later. Fingers crossed we have resolved the problems. The fridge and freezer are a lot colder than they were. This has saved us the cost of an engineer or a new fridge freezer

Thats great! It works with the buttons off, and than hold down super cool and super freeze buttons for 3 sec, and it stopped flashing:) we got our one from second hand shop, and i was worried that we bought broken fridge, as in original manual it states in case the lights are flashing, fridge is not working properly...contact technician! Its weird though that this simple thing is not written in the hotpoint troubleshooting manual.. thanks x

my ff200e's lights were flashing for about a week before i decided to look on here. i noticed the ice building up in the freezer just before it started to flash, then it was beeping during the night but only for the first night then no more beeps.
all i did was turn both dials to 'off' position and then hold in the two buttons on the dials for about 3 seconds. then i heard the fridge come back on and hey presto! no more flashing :D
thankyou for the information everybody! :)

My FF200E gets an ice build up every 3-4 weeks and so I have to defrost with my steam cleaner which only take 10 mins (even with very large build up of ice which normally starts to freeze the bottom tray in). When lights flash a hotpoint engineer told me to set both fridge and freeze dials to zero then put them back to temp setting of your choice and beeping stops straight away. Hotpoint really should fix all our freezers I was told that the cooling motor is too small for the size of fridge freezer this is (much larger than most. I keep calling my insurance plan people out - one day they will get fed up and sort this out with hotpoint!

Our fridge/freezer started flashing lights and beeping (after about 5 years). Same as other, I did the following to solve it:
1). Switch off fridge, then in freezer section unscrew 2 panels at the back (long phillips screwdriver required). BE CAREFUL WHEN REMOVING SECOND PANEL - it houses the fan and is connected to the back of the freezer.
2) You'll now probably see a large build up of ice (we had about half the conductor covered in THICK ice). I used haridryer and screwdriver to carefully remove the ice. Took an hour to get rid of it. Also checked draining holing wasn't blocked.
3) Replace panels and switch fridge back on. I also had to hold buttons at top to reset the fridge.
That was 3 days ago and now no more flashing lights or beeping. Fridge and freezer certainly a lot cooler/colder.

We were on the verge of having to buy a new Fridge Freezer due to the flashing lights and high temp!...just read the info on this site, and just saved us over £300. Thanks everyone.
But why don't Hotpoint print this simple fix in their troubleshooting guide. Turn dials to off, press and hold the super buttons until interier light goes out, then it resets itself.

Got the huge FF200E from our local recycling centre and am really impressed with it. Fridge and freezer are working perfectly but the light have been blinking for days now (since we plugged it in).
We waited 24 hours when we got it before plugging it in and the compressor isn't running constantly. Turned the dials to OFF and held the SUPER buttons for a few seconds (until the beep) and that sorted it. Now running beautifully on the i-care setting.
Thanks everyone.

After looking on the net for a fix for my hotpoint ff200e. The fridge had stopped working but also the lights where flashing. I have left it off for 24hrs and everything is working fine. As for the flashing lights turn them to off and hold in the super buttons once it beeps the lights will stop flashing.

Had a similar problem on different Hotpoint model when my 3 year old defrosted everything, it wouldn't get cold again and the light kept flashing - I assume its a warning so you don't unknowingly eat re-frozen food. Eventually got it back on by turning the dial to off then holding down the rapid freeze button.

Hi common problem with the hotpoint models, the fridge is cooled from a vent from the freezer, after a while the radiator behind the freezer drawers get a chunk of ice on it, this needs to be removed. Simple to do....
1. Remove freezer trays,
2. Unscrew panel inside the freezer section, about 5 -7 screws, becareful when taking of as there is a wire to the fan
3. You should now see a block of ice, which challenges the one that sunk the ship, Kate and Leo were on!
4. Chip, chizle, blow torch, melt away this ice burge, as much as you can.
5. Replace panel, and trays.
6. Shut door, and let the cooling begin... Takes a while to get back to normal, but does work!
Had to do mine twice now in just over 2 years....

If the fridge is warm but the freezer is working try unplugging; remove freezer trays before taking the back panel out of the freezer compartment..... (5 screws and a bit of gentle levering) it will be connected with a couple of cables but there should be enough slack to move out of the way. Once off take a look to see if the freezer element / compartment is full of ice.... if so defrost using a hairdryer.
Happened twice on ours - remove ice and you should find fridge cooler within 20 mins or so. Check other forums there are loads of people with same issue.

the same thing has and is constantly happening on my FF200EG , i turn the upper temp switches off( next to the green on/off light), for both fridge and freezer, wait 5 mins, then turn them back to just further than the i-care setting. The lights stop flashing, but my fridge is still warm!!!!!!!!! Any others got the same problem? i have heard that this could be a common fault with this model.
