Lost wireless connection?Hi, was hoping someone could advise. On Friday just gone, my laptop was connecting perfectly via wireless to the internet. On Saturday morning, it had stopped working and was not displaying the internet. I could see that the laptop was still connecting to the router (status connected, signal strength excellent) but was saying page could not be displayed. I connected the laptop via a cable to the router and can get the internet so i dont think it can be the ISP's problem. The one 'clue' I do get is when I click 'repair' for my wireless network connection it tells me Windows cannot complete the action 'Disabling the wireless network adapted', - 'make sure your network adapter is properly installed'. Any advice to helping me fix this and returning to wireless bliss will be greatly appreciated!!

The most likely thing to have caused this problem is a 'Channel Clash'. Download a copy (its free) of inSSIDer and use it to find out what channels are in use by your neighbours. Then set the WiFi channel on your router to use a channel that is not in use and is at least two channel numbers away from any that are.

P.S.your computer will say connected, signal strength excellent, you are NOT connected, you will be if you drive around and connect to a house that hasn't safeguarded their internet access,or look for available connections on your computer.

I've had this problem twice with Ti****i couldn't use cable as my pc is in a different room, look at the lights on your router if they are labeled, the ON-LINE light should be on, if it is not the router needs reconfigured you will have to ring the help desk (probably in India)on a phone not connected to your broadband(I used the house phone 2nd time and it didn't matter a toss, tell them you need the router reconfigured),they will talk you through it(simple the second time round,I could do it myself now probably, and I,m a duckegg),find a soft wall to bang your head against while the credits are being drained from your phone as you hold on.Good luck.
