How to reset Tamper Light on Veritas R8 after Power Cut ?Our Veritas R8 was installed in 2000. It had a new battery less than two years ago. Two days ago there was a 12 hour power cut in our village. After power restoration, the tamper light was on and the strobe light in the external box was flashing. My question is, can I reset the tamper light, so that it goes off, or do I have to call an engineer out ? (I have no maintenance contract on the alarm). Thanks for any clarification.

if you want to test whether the battery is ok, get a car headlight bulb 12v 21w solder one wire to the base and another to the side. hold the wires on the battery terminals and if it starts to dim you know that the battery is not well.

Thanks to GTS and Alarm for their prompt answers. Entering the code and pressing RESET sorted the Tamper Light and Strobe Light flashing (you would think Veritas would have included this in their User Guide, but they don't !). Regarding the battery, the Multimeter reading suggests it is OK, but I note GTS' point about a potential faulty cell. As I don't have the "expensive" ACT tester is there any other way I can check the integrity of the battery ? If not, what risk am I taking ? Is it just that next time there is power failure, the alarm will go off ... and is that the way I'll find out if indeed the battery has a faulty cell ?
Thanks for any further clarification.

am with alarm guy on this one,we use an act tester ,a unit that puts a dummy load on the battery,it shows up any faults, but, expensive too buy,if you use a multimeter,it will show the voltage as alarm guy says, but wont show a faulty cell in battery.your tester can still read 13 to 13.75 volts, but the act unit checks the ampage.your battery may recover with a full charge,if not,you have to replace it.

First of all put your code in and press reset. 12 hours may have "killed" the battery.
If you can, and only if your confident as there is mains supply present in the panel, check the battery voltage. It should be between 13.00 and 13.75 VDC in an ideal world with that panel.
