Please help me repair my Hotpoint Rf18p Refrigerator\Freezer?
Hello there Geniuses of fixed4free.com!
My fridge\freezer (Hotpoint model:Rf18p) freezer part works perfectly but the fridge part for fresh food doesn't cool down enough. I bought and replaced the thermostat unit situated in the fridge area but still the same, it can't reach temperatures under 12\15 degree centigrade.
Please help me find out how to diagnostic what is the problem in this particular model.
I contacted by phone and chat the Hotpoint manufacture but all they do is selling parts or sell you an engineer to fix it for you. They don't give you advise and they don't even have the original manual of my fridge in their system.
Unfortunately I can't even figure out how to access to the back panel in the freezer!! It has no screws visible! and I can't find any description or guide online because the fridge is not very known. :(
So I will be SOOOO grateful if you could help me with anything you can;
-model manual,
-a picture of how it is inside,
-a description of what fridge system it is,
-how to access the back panel in the freezer,
-how to fix the problem of the freezer working but the -fridge not cold enough
Thank you in advance for any help you will give me,
Giuseppe :)
If you have tried all the usual stuff with removing the back panel in the freezer and attacked that ice block with a hairdrier and your fridge is still not cooling but your freezer is fine (like mine was) it's likely your damper motor has packed in. Worry not!....
Simply remove the shelves in the fridge
Unscrew the two torx screws in the panel with the lights in
Take the lens off the lights and unscrew the two screws
The panel will now come away from the back of the fridge
Unplug the lighting cable and the damper cable
(You will see that there is a flap which controls the air flow from the freezer if this fails no cold air will come up from the freezer)
Now wedge something to half open the damper flap. I lodged a small ball of duct tape in there.
Now damper flap is half open put everything back together and you now have a cold fridge.
