How do I get to the pump/filter to clean?

Not sure about your model but most Whirlpool front load washing machines you take the lower kick panel off the front of machine, down along the bottom. It just clips on. In behind that is the pump filter which screws out. Make sure you have some towels handy as some water will come out.
