Scantronic 9448+Style sensor problem?I have a 9448 system professionally installed in my house for more than 10
years. It was Ok until recently when I have had the alarm go off without reason.
I have had two separate security companies, one also fitted the system, look at the device and they say it is operating Ok now. However, the entry/exit sensor, sited inside the front door, flashes continually at night when dark. This is when the system has not been set. The sensor flashes for several minutes and then stops and later flashes again. No person or pet are in the vicinity. The light can be seen flashing from adjacent rooms while all house lights are off. What could be the reason for this please and could this be the cause of the previous false alarms? This sensor flashes green, blue and orange at different times when in dormant mode.
i would appreciate some assistance please as I am nervous of setting the alarm now in case of disturbing neighbours with continuous false alarms.
Thank You, Laurence

To Johns, Thanks for reply. No tamper was detected. I am just asking why the sensor light keeps flashing when no one is in the vicinity of the sensor. Sometimes, not always, the sensor flashes on off all night. This is when the alarm is in dormant mode i.e. not set.

Normally if you open control panel (2 screws) remove mains and battery (External bell should ring).
After 20 sec reconnect mains and battery and stop int sounder using your code.
Replace lid and screws enter your code again to clear the tamper indication.
System should now be OK.
You must be aware that if this does not work you may require an engineer again ! The 9448 has two tamper inputs bell and global. Before doing above make sure all device lids are on or contacts are ok, It may be your system detects a tamper or cut wire.
Above will work if the tamper came up after an electrical storm ,i..
