I had a friend ask me to look at his SSC192, which was also dead. I initially checked out the power on - dead with remote or from front of set. I then pulled the back and checked the fuse - it was good. This unit uses a switch mode power supply - if a component on the load side shorts, the power supply will still run, but at a much lower power until (maybe) something burns up. I found that zener diode (D615) in the 26/8.5 volt source to be shorted. I haven't verified a part number yet, so I don't know if it is all of the problem. A test you can use is to plug the set in for a couple of minutes, then unplug the power cord and then touch the big power resistor that may be marked 5W 3.9K. If it is warm, then the power supply is running and D615 may be shorted, causing it to run in low power mode. An ohmmeter can be used to verify the short.
