Thank you for your answer on fixing the feed dogs and plate on the machine. I took the machine apart, finally seeing that the free arm was not matched all the way in causing it too warp some. The plate went right down in Thanks again for the help. The machine works wonderfully in REVERSE Only. I have the front plastic casing off as well as the side and bottom, can see no broken gears, have cleaned and oiled all. The switches dont seem to be stuck. Do you or anyone know how to reset the switch? Thanks again for the help.
Hello Deborah,
It is very unlikely it is a mechanical fault unless you have taken a part off, it is very likely that the reverse pin is stuck, when you select reverse the button or lever should spring back once you let it go for normal forward stitching. if it does not spring back vigorously then I would suggest that you get some very thin oil such as WD40 and spray behind the button or lever from inside the machine if you can see it by looking in the top of the machine, seems to be a very common problem on Kenmore but nothing drastic, try it and see how it goes, very very unlikely any mechanical part has gone out of alignment.
