Can not see all pictures on web pages?

I can not see pictures on web pages. Instead of the picture there is a icon of a red square, a blue circle and a triangle.
I have the settings in IE set in the options under multimedia to all be checked escept for the very first setting. Do I need to download some type of program? I have a E-machine T2625 running XP home.

Here are a couple of reasons:
1. Your connection has to be active at the time of the viewing. Images contain a small amount of code that must trace back to the original source.
2. You might not have image display enabled in Internet Explorer. To check your computer, open the Control Panel. Click on the Internet Options icon (double or single, depending on how you set up your desktop). There will be a display with tabs. Click on the tab that says"Advanced." In the "Multimedia" category, make sure all the options are checked. Also, if you want your images to print, check the box under "Printing." Click "OK," close out the Control Panel and restart if necessary. The next time you boot up and go online, your images should display.

Lisa, there are two basic things to check straight away.

Are the pictures you are missing likely to be advertisements? If so, it could easily be some Ad Blocking software which is stopping these pictures from appearing. Check if your Firewall might be blocking these Ads.

Are you using a dial-up internet service provider? Is your connection very slow? It could be that IE is just giving up on pictures because they are taking too long to download. Try making sure that you are getting the best internet connection (speed) that you can. Don't download things while you are browsing the web.

You could try installing a different web brower. When I have had problems with IE I have checked if I have the same problem with Netscape Navigator.
