Most often those symptoms are due to excessive load on the power supply because of a short circuit "line output transistor". If so - not too expensive. However, Mitsubishi's, as would most TV's that age, suffer "a lot" from dry joints and leaky electrolytic capacitors.
Otherwise, really need model number. Although, I can only say from a British engineers point of view, that 32", 29", 25" Mitsubishi models of that era very often suffer failure of an electrolytic capacitor in the power supply, "I think" it's 10uF 50V C906 at edge of board, right next to heatsink. It can give those symptoms.
NB. the track from the mains HT capacitor runs right next to it and holds "a substantial charge" for several hours after power off.
In any event only a qualified engineer should attempt to repair it.
