How can I reattach the door on my Whirlpool 465 oven?

The door got pulled off the oven. Nothing is broken, but I cannot re-attach it! The hinges on the oven seem to pull into another position, but they don't stay there long, snapping back. I cannot seem to put the oven door back in time. I have tried jamming them open with pen caps, etc. but that does not seem to work. help.

This place was the answer to my puzzle. The trick is to open the hinge more than you think you need. Until you see the hinge holes, you will think that there are none.

But, If you use a big screwdriver or something else to ledge the hinge more open (yes, it does open more than you think), you will see the hole, and you can pop a small nail or anything to hold the hinge open. Put the door back on the oven.

If you can only get one hinge on, open the door completely (using the drawer under the oven to support the door), and repeat the process for the second hinge. You will know you are done. What a damned design.

Oh how I love the internet! Thank you so much! I knew I had to get the hinges out further, but after 3 days of trying, hadn't figured this out yet. THANK YOU

Thank you so much! I spent the last four hours on and off trying to figure out how to put the darn door back on. It was the nails that did it. I didn't realize how far out the hinges needed to be in order to re attach. Thank you so much!!!

I did exactly as you described and the door hinges fit right into place. It was too cool. Once the hinges were in place I moved the door down a little to take the pressure off the nails and they were loose and pulled right out. This advise saved some money by not having to call in a professional.

Push the hinges out till they click once. At this point, get your nails or screws ready. Use a screw driver and wedge the hinges further apart. When you see the hole in the hinge appear, put the nail in it to hold it open. With both done, drop door in place; open door slightly, and remove nails.
This can be done when only one hinge comes off. Leave door attached by the one hinge; pull out drawer under oven a little, open door to perpendicular, resting on drawer, and follow above.

There are holes in the sides of the hinges. With the door on the floor, extend the hinges (hard because the springs are so tight) Then put a nail through the hole which keeps the hinges in an extended position. The door drops right back in....and then you remove the nails from the holes.
