Neff Oven U1661 blows ELCB?

The above neff oven has 2 ovens the main oven works ok, the small top oven blows the Earth Leakage Curcuit Breaker as soon as it is turned on, has anyone any idea as to what can cause this to happen.

I have a problem that when I switch my oven off it trips the circuit breaker on my consumer unit.
The only way I can stop it is by turning my panasonic microwave oven on before turning the oven off.
I usually put a jug of water in the microwave to do this.

It's not a solution but it saves me time going round and reseting all the clocks in the house which of course fail when the consumer unit trips.

It's the element. You can get one on ebay for £6. Buy two so if it fails again in future you can get up and running easy. Takes 10mins and can be done from the inside of the oven. Switch off electricity at mains. Remove 6 torx screws on cover, remove 3 screws on element. pull out slightly and remove crimp connections. Replace on new element and reassemble. Job Done

Hi the True Answer from a spark
My oven Neff Double was tripping the RCD after it got above 180 deg
I had 3 months ago changed the element as it was not warming at all. It had blown. I got a spare none neff half the price copy element £32.00 then after 3 month got the tripping problem The very nice shop changed it as it was under Gaurentee i got a neff part for £22.00 more By cheep buy Twice !!!!!!
Its down to what does a RCD do It detects leeks to earth anything above 30 mili amps it will trip
I checked mine element with my insulation resistace meter NOT I MY ADD A LOW RESISTANCE OHM METER you need the insulation resistance meter You need to test at 250 volts across the Live & Neutral of the element to the frame of the element mine was 15000 Ohms. Ohms law now V = I x R 15000ohms Divided by 230 volts supply volts = roughly 0.015 amps not enought to trip the rcd when on
As the temp rises the insulation will break down more allowing the insulation resistance of the element to drop allowing the current amps to flow to earth over 30 mili Amps RCD trip that is the problem solved
Change the element a new ellement ive just fitted had a Isulation resistance of over 200 millionon Ohms as it should do IE Divide that by 230 volts not enought to trip the rcd
Hope this helps

I have just encountered the same problem, having just upgraded my house wiring to include ELCB (RCD).

It is caused because the ELCB is simply doing its' correct job. It sees a leakage to earth in excess of 30mA (approx) and trips. The leakage is caused because the construction of oven heating elements comprises a loop of heating wire within a metal (earthed) tube. The tube, of course, is earthed. The heating wire is insulated from the tube by a powdered mineral insulation. Clearly the electrical resistance of this insulation is not high enough to prevent the "trip" current from flowing.

Did either of you get a reponse as I have the same problem on the top oven

Hi Chris...I have the same problem with the slight exception that it is my main oven that trips the MCB not the small oven.
I too would like to know how this could be solved without a huge call out fee.
