How can I fix my miele wt 945 novatronic washer/dryer?

The heating on the drying side doesn't heat up?

Having had an authorised Miele repair man come out and quote ÂŁ400 for a new condenser, I followed Emilk's suggestion; WD40 on the bearing. It worked! Thank you Emilk!

Restoring the drier function.

Using a carefully made peice of bent wire it is possible to remove the fluff on the fan baldes. It needs to be about 12 inches long with a 1/4 inch 90 degree hook on the end.

Undo the clips retaining the upper hose that runs down to the condenser unit (back right).

With a bright light look down into the unit and you will see the edges of the fan all clogged up with fluff.
Assuming you have turned to main power off, gently pick off the fluff with the wire hook. Rotate the fan, one blade at a time (rotate the fan motor) until you have picked it off all the blades. There are about 30 blade sin all. The use a vacuum cleaner to pull all the residual bits off as you slowly rotate the fan.
Put the hose back on (that nasty spring hose clip will fight you all the way). Hit the heater reset button (middle right side of the heater block).
Job done.

After about 12 years the condenser unit as a whole needs to be refurbished (a big job but well within DIY territory) as there will be considerable corrosion at the inlet. Or you can replace it at a cost of about ÂŁ350, but you would be mad to do so as a new Hotpoint washer-drier is cheaper and once your machine is at this stage in its life the main drum bearing is about to fail anyway.

I have just repaired my Miele washer dryer. Fantastic. I have just follow these instructions and the fan is now moving and the dryer is once again drying. Thanks for leaving the tip.

Hamid,
Excellent. I just have fixed my washer/dryer. Here is how I did it: first, genly tried to rotate the fan using nut, which is keeping wheel for belt joining fan and motor. It exposed resistance and required some slight force to be applied.
Few drops of oil in between of the belt wheel and fan housing helped to turn it with no force nearly. Repeated many turns manually to let oil do it's work. Then, pushed red square thermostate overheating fuse you mentioned, until cliked. While machine was running, I added few drops of oil more until fan stopped whining and now is running smoothly.
Thank you so much for tips.

Thanks, this helped me too.

First time it happened I had a mechanic come over and he explained the machine overheated since the system was full of fluf and the machine needs to be flushed regularly. To really fix the problem the vent system needs to be replaced, but that would cost a fortune.

First time in half a year that it stopped working again. I figure I rather reset the switch a few times a year.
