I wish to have Aiwa NSXD939 CD Mini /tape and radio repaired and serviced?

Bought in 1995 this model has a deck for 3 CDs and a tape to tape deck and a radio. Has started cutting off the power after a few minutes play.

Robin - can you please tell me which "authorized aiwa repair shop" you used? I'd like to call them and find out how they fixed it and see if they can do the transaction via mail. I recently brought my unit to a local repair shop who charged me the $30 diagnostic fee, claimed to try to fix it for over a month, claimed that he could not get the parts required, and had me pick it up. I'd like to get him to talk to the authorized Aiwa shop and either work together or give the business to them instead.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

To Milton B Rick:

I am in Dallas, TX. I have an AIWA NSX-D939 which was damaged during a burglary - would be willing to sell for parts.

I live in TEXAS. If I recall, the capacitors that were replaced must have been in the unit which houses the power supply. The issue was power related therefore it must have been the same side where the power cord is attached. Question: Would you be willing to part with your unit for a fair price? EMAIL: hccs1@sbcglobal.net Thanks, Milton

I recently had mine (AIWA NSX-D939) repaired for a similar problem. Your brief discript about your unit sounds like your experiencing a power-down issue. And, in consideration of the age of the unit, it is probably the capacitors related to the power supply unit that's giving the trouble. Capacitors do dry up (internally) over time. The same was true for my TV which I had recently repaired. It too had to have the capacitors replaced. Go to AIWA websight and it provides location info on local service centers which repair your specific model unit.

Robin -

My unit seems to have a similar problem now.

I'm in Boston, where are you? If it is near Boston, where did you get it fixed? How much did it cost?

Can you find out which Capacitor was out? Do you know which side of the unit it was in? (The one with the CD/Tape Deck, or the one with the Power button?)

Any and all help would be VERY much appreciated!

I had that same problem a few years back. I was told that the capaciter was out. I took my unit to an authorized Awia repair shop and had that problem solved!
