How do i change the bulb behind the electronic display Laguna2003?

The temperature display works fine, just at night when you switch the lights on ,dash board lights up but not the temp. display. The blue & red symbols on the display light up fine.
Do i need to go cap in hand to Renault ,hope not.

There is no bulb, it is a series of LEDs.

You will need a soldering iron to fix this (I did mine in 10 mins and cost me 5p worth of solder - Dont be fobbed off by Renault and spend £600+ on a new unit.

You need to remove the unit.

Pull out the ash-tray, then pull out the card reader to get to the Air-Con unit.
Carefully unclip from the top and bottom and slide it out.

Unplug the grey and green plugs (They have black levers on them.

Take the unit apart by removing the grey front panel, then the black inner pannel (This is not easy and needs three hands!)

The LCD display will hang loose over a piece of white paper and a white plastic light box.

Remove the paper, unlip and remove the light box to reveal a string of LEDs.

Unclip the blue circuit board from the main unit.

On the front of the board there are a number of black rectangular resistors.

There is a large one marked 100R (Or similar) to the right of the LEDs

Check this one first and put solder on each end of the resistor, ensuring that the joint is good. I also applied solder to the two smaller resistors either side.

Partially re-assemble the unit, putting the blue baord and black facia back on (Put the dials in before putting the black facia on)

Return the unit to the car, plug in the green and grey plugs - make sure you use the black locking clips or it won't work.

Pop the keycard in the ignition and start the car up.

With luck the LCD will light up!

If not, do the repeat the soldering procedure with the other resistors on the lighting circuit.

When complete, remove the unit, replace the grey facia panel and re assemble the dash. Job done.
