Hi all
I have a advent 7082 laptop that when booted up the screen and keys freeze up and I am unable to shut this down. Although I have managed to remove the power and this kills the laptop. But then when I try to boot up again this will not go past the boot up mode (DOS) unles I leave this for 30mins then it will boot up full but then freeses within a couple of mins. It feels like ground hog day over and over again. Any help would be apresiated.
would suggest running a hard drive test over the computer as it sounds like it only intermitantly picks up the drive this can cause it to freeze at post (assuming the screen where it freezes is the initial logo here) you can get a good one for free off the packard bell website if you search diagnostic disk and get version 2.3, start up with the cd it makes in the machine it will start off that not the hard drive, select hard drive tests and then the long test the short one doesnt give any details on what it fails on, if it passes that then try the memory test, dont let it run untill it finishes its a looping test, give it an hour, hard drive test it just says the error (ussually bad sectors) mem test it shows up errors in bright red, dont worry neither are expensive to replace
