Why does my ford focus battery light keep flashing?During recent journeys my ford focus battery light flicks on for around 10 seconds and back off again. Occasionally, it stays on for the whole journey. The battery and alternator have both been tested and are both fine. Is it a problem with the earth wire, and if so, how can I fix this?

I had the same problem on my X reg Focus. It got worse when other warning lights started coming on; ABS, hand brake, etc. Then on one journey the speedo and rev counter needles went haywire, sweeping across the full range.
Searching the web, it appears that this is a common fault on the focus, particularly 02/03 reg cars. Fault in instrument cluster. Ford have acknowleded partial responsibility for the fault (after highlighted on Watchdog in Apr). Any Ford dealer will replace instrument cluster for £99 if it is identified as faulty. The only problem is that the new instrument cluster will show zero miles on odometer, so you will need to keep a record of the actual milage.
You may want to get it checked out now, or wait until the fault develops with the other lights coming on. It took about 2 weeks from 1st seeing the battery light to everything going wrong with my car.
