Last night our area had a prolonged powercut, during which the Accenta6 alarm went off (it hadn't been set!) I couldn't turn it off at the keypad (so pulled the wires from the internal alarm to silence it - the external alarm turned off after 15 minutes or so). Today I notice the keypad (a basic, no display Accenta version) doesn't have the power light illuminated which presumably is why it wouldn't work last night (or indeed now)? The alarm unit itself DOES have power now (and all the sensors are working), all 3 fuses are good. Any ideas? (NB. I do not have a manual for the alarm. Is there an online version? (alarmhelp.net referred to in other questions seems to have been disabled...)
Hi Phil, Just has a similar situation myself. Only my iron going faulty caused the power cut in my house. Thankfully I hadn't pulled the wires out as I was quickly able to regain mains power.
The problem is probably that you need a new back up battery. When you lost mains power, the back-up battery being dead couldn't keep your alarm system functioning as normal.
My battery is a Yuasa NP2.8-12 2.8Ah 12v sealed lead acid battery. I'm guessing yours is the same? I got a replacement from hardwareexpress.co.uk. It cost me £20.88 including VAT and next day delivery.
To reset my system I then followed the procedure on this link:

and everything is fine again now.
If you're able to re-do the wiring you pulled, the rest is pretty straight forward.
