Sharp XE-A102 is stuck in Programming Mode?Hi,
I was programming my cash register for tax and it stops responding with letter P showing no matter what key I pressed. I tried #/sbtl that usually ends the programming mode but nothing happened. It now does not respond to any function keys and letter P stays in all modes (Reg, X/Flash, etc.). How can I get out of programming mode? Is there anyway to reset this machine? I've tried unplugging, leave it off for 30 minutes, but nothing seems to work. Please help.

I have had this happen plenty of times. If you put in REG mode and hit #/SBTL it will clear the "P", but it may modify some of your programming depending on what you were doing (such as keying in an amount and department). Usually it is preset unit price for a department key that may change. You can check this on the report. If you keep an old programming report, you can check to see if anything has changed. If it has, go back to PGM mode and reprogram.

Thank God you posted this answer on the internet, I tried everything and it was only putting it in REG and hitting the sub-total that worked.
Thank you for taking the time to post it on the net.

Hi.
I have a 102 that locks up often too. The paper feed button is all that works, then suddenly it starts working again. I suspect Sharp has made a faulty batch of keyboard membranes as they did with some of their other models. There has been no recall on this model as yet, but if you check with your local supplier, they may know more than I do. Try warming the keyboard gently with a hair dryer and see if it starts to work again.
