EO1 Unit in safeguard mode message on JVC mini DV camcorder?
When unit is turned on I get the message "EO1 Unit in safeguard mode" message on the viewer. It tells me to remove and reattach battery. I've done that and it still continues to give me the EO1 message.
JVC Compact digital Camcorder camera
Model #GR-DX300
At this point I have no idea. I am though going to contact JVC directly( I have ways). Mine is a GR-AXM17U Compact with Digital Signal Processing. I have recorded only 6 tapes. That's a total of 3 hours recording time. I've realistically estimated playback time at 32 hours. It now eats anything I put in it. I'm glad I found this out while using a tape I was going to record over. I keep all my equipment clean and stored properly. I promise to come back with whatever I find out from JVC.
JVC camcorders are known for having safeguard problems.
mine was locked into safeguard the second time i tried to use it at 1 month old. i had it repaired and it came back eating the tapes. eating the tapes was blamed on old, or improper tapes. they were all brand new never used JVC tapes.
it came back from service locked in safeguard mode.
i got it back the fourth time and it worked for a few days, then went back into safeguard mode.
the shop had it more than i did during the first year.
when it locked the next time after the warranty was out, i was told the estimate for repairs was $300.00.
unless you want to try to risk taking it apart, the only 2 options you have is to send it in for repairs which is not cheap, or throw it away and never buy anything from JVC again.
i chose option 2.
