How can I fix my Siemens Porsche toaster?

The internal mechanism that holds the bread down in the toaster is broken, I have to manually hold the external lever down to get the bread to toast.
The is the silver 2 piece Siemens Porsche designed kitchen toaster.
Any ideas on how to fix would be appreciated.

TT911P2 - hold down mechanism failed. So just like Jojo says. Unplugged it, crumb tray out, turned upside down and shook it relatively violently! It worked a treat.

Compressed air from the pound shop/nickel&dime.

Just did the shaking trick and it worked a treat!! Pulled the crumb tray out first and gave a really good shake.
Saved me buying a new toaster

This has happened to mine twice and the advice I saw somewhere on the Internet was to turn the whole thing upside down and give it a good shake...not very professional I know but it worked!! Probably due to dislodging trapped crumbs or something but hey can't knock it!!

I'm an appliance engineer do not buy one of these toasters they seem have an inherent problem with the hold down solenoid

I did try to repair one of these but found it nearly impossible to carry out basic repairs like a solenoid exchange due to the difficult access to the components
I did eventually get the suspected failed component i tested it in situ and confirmed open circuit on the solenoid coil .. I tried to remove it but found it was fast with adhesive .. It was at this point I decided to call it a day ;)

Hi Mohammed, I think Marcus may be talking about a slightly different toaster model than yours (and mine, by the sounds of it). The mechanism that holds the assembly down is a little electronic magnet, just opposite from the "black piece of plastic that pivots up and down".

I had the same problem you had and fixed it by cleaning the magnet thoroughly from some bread crumbs by blowing some air (from my mouth).

Hope this helps.

I tried this, but still can't get the toast to stay down. The level you are talking about - is it the black piece of plastic that pivots up and down (on the right), or the white piece on the left that pivots in and out? Also, do you have to take out the whole assembly (including the PC board) so that you are looking at the element, or does the assembly split into pieces?

It is pretty impossible to repair a Siemens Toaster. Fortunately, they have a 2 yr warranty. So my advice is to take it back and get a new one.
If it out of warranty and you still want to try then you will have to lever off the end with the browning control knob. Firstly tape the dust cover knob and the toaster knob in place with a piece of DUCK tape or similar. This is very important becase the knobs must be in exactly the correct place when reassembling if you still want the system to function after.
The entire end is one piece moulding and you will have to lever it off from the bottom using a small flat blade screwdriver (there is a small gap at the bottom where the aluminium sides meet). also lever sideways at the top. The whole side mechanism complete will come away.
You will find that the mechanism that holds the toast down is a level protruding from the end. Push it UP and then reassemble by simply pushing the complete end back in.
Sounds simple but it is very fiddly indeed and can easily go wrong.
Hope this helps
