there is a thick layer of ice formed on the base of the outside of the freezer, it has only happened during the recent cold weather,it is standing on a quarry tiled floor. I can't scrape it off,and was hoping it would melt when the weather turned a bit warmer, but it doesn's seem to be shifting at all. would it be ok to use an aerosol de-icer?
Hi, I have the same problem, I think water may have got into insulation and saturated it it then freezes and then condensation forms on it building up a solid block of ice. I am going to try turning it off for a day or so and then blow the water out of the insulation with an air line and some sort of hollow probe, if that fails I will have to remove the insulation and replace it with expanded polystyrene, which will not absorb water. I did email Hotpoint but they refused to give any information.
Hi. This has been happening to ours. Eventually ice melts and creates a pool of water. It's the insulation panel. Ours is about to be replaced for £130 Inc. It's a good make so I hope is worth it. It's 14 years old and apparently will continue to last along time.
