Panasonic 36" Tau Flat Screen TBM2AC0282 blows fuses. Is it static elect.?My 3 year old panasonic tv keeps blowing its 6 amp fuse about every 2-3 weeks. I'll shut the TV off at night and when I try to turn on the TV the next day it will turn on for a moment then shut off and not come back on. This will be the third time in two months I have replaced the fuse. Could it be static electricity or dust? If it's not, would it just be cheaper to buy a new tv? Thanks!

My panasonic is 5 years old. I was on my way out to buy a new tv, but i figured I would ck. on line for some help. The fuse was the problem which was easy enough to remove through the power cord door however I had to remove the entire back of the tv far enough open to reach in to replace the fuse. Radio shack only had 6.3amp 250 volt. I went with Home Depot 6amp 120 volt. Thanks for all who write in. I don't know what causes the fuse to blow.

Thanks for this post. It inspired me to replace my fuse in my TV and it is working great now... I took pics of the process in case anybody wants to see what they are in for. http://joedotcom.com/2009/09/01/panasonic-fuse/

My 32" Tau is doing the same thing. The entire back of the TV needs to come off, and the panel with connectors stays in place. You likely have to lay TV on soft surface, picture side down to take the back off. The fuse will be near where power cord attaches to the circuit board. I replaced the 6.3 amp 125 v with a standard 5 amp 125 v fuse and .... pop! Going elsewhere tomorrow to get the right amp fuse. Also not sure about the T or F, didn't check. Mine turned on, then popped the fuse. Might need the delay... ?

I've been having similar problems with my 37" panasonic TAU.
I'd bought a pkg of 5 fuses for ~$1, but the last time, couldn't find them so I wrapped foil around the fuse until I could locate more fuses..
Then I forgot about it and (think) it may have happened again ~8 months later.
I was about to wrestle with it again tonight, but it weighs about 3 times as much as my Wife..And She won't help, so I thought I'd look here on Cyberspace for pointers before I go through my stretching exercizes and try to replace again...
I know it's very dangerous using Foil or a larger fuse, but what else can be done to eliminate the almost monthly tag-team rastling with the TV and the rocket launcher I built to hold it?

The type of fuse you are fitting may be critical, are you using exactly the same type as the original? (was the original fast blow or time lag spec'd.) eg. the prefix T is used in UK for time lag, F for fast blow. This may be different in your country. Was the original ceramic shatter proof or glass? Only, exactly the same fuse type & spec. should be fitted as was originally in the set, unless otherwise changed by the maufacturer (see below).
Otherwise, faulty degaussing positor(s) can be a common cause of random fuse blowing. They safety rated components, so must be replaced with identical parts.
PS. This is just a heads up... some "BRITISH" Panasonic Tau models had an official fuse upgrades modification by Panasonic, as the original value was deemed too critical and failed prematurely, though rarely as frequently as you have stated.
However, you MUST check with a Pansonic or a Panasonic service agent to find if any such modification applies to YOUR COUNTRY VERSION, as it may well be different & perfectly ok as it is. In any case, such circuit changes, if required, should only be carried out by a qualified person.
Obviously, changing the fuse value or type, for any reason other than by official modification, is extremely dangerous.
