2.5% is a 40:1 ratio.
You can get a mixing bottle for 2-stroke, you put in 1 litre of petrol and then top up to the relevant line with oil and mix it up.
It's worth remembering to either run the machine out of fuel when you finish using it, or drain the fuel back into the can or mixing bottle. If you leave it in the tank, the petrol tends to evaporate away, leaving the oil, which then becomes a sticky messs which gums up the works.

All depends on the recommended dilution ratio of the oil you are using and NOT the ratio in the book

It means that if you had 100pints of petrol you would mix in 2.5pints of oil, obviously you don't need that much but the sum is the same regardless of the size, there are many ways to do it depending on what you have around, for a small amount I would use a 35mm film canister, pour ten measures in to a jug or jar mark a line on it and pour that into a gallon can, fill the jug to the line again nine more times emptying it in to the gallon can, then add 2 and 1/2 film canisters of the oil to tha can,job done.As long as you can measure out 100 parts and add 2.5 parts to it you will be ok.Long winded I know but I'm sure you get the drift.
