How can I fix the weight back on my Zanussi Aquacycle 1400 Washing Machine?
I have a 7 year old, Zanussi Aquacycle 1400. It started to make a hell of a din when going through the spin cycle. I opened up the lid to find the weight had come away from the back of the drum at the top. It seemed intact - so I tried to reposition it, which appeared OK.
Tried a couple of wash cycles which were fine, but the last time the machine was incredibly noisy during the spin cycle - I thought that it was going to take off!
So, I took the lid off again, and Lo and Behold - the weight had loosened off again and was now lurking under the drum. I am not sure how I go about removing the side panels of the machine in order to get a better look at the inside - i'm obviously missing something simple here! (no - not my brain)
My question is this - how do I ensure that the weight remains in the correct position throughout the washing and spin cycle? There are 2 hollow brackets with holes in the end - they look like 2 huge raw plugs. (the weight sits on these 2 brackets). Can a self taping butterfly nut be fitted to those 2 holes to hold the weight on permanently or is there something else that can be done?
u need to remove the back/side panel by undoing the 7mm srews that hold it together take of lid do srews 3 each side near spring etc then back of machine and two at side behind white cover, remove back panel then look at were weight fits making sure that the screw hole things not broke then refitted with new big bolts etc if is broke u have to replace back half
