how can I fix my Whirlpool washing maching, model # LA5550XTWO?
My washer is draining but not spinning. After doing some research, there is some suggestion that the motor coupler may be worn out. I have found the part to purchase but I have no idea what the repair is going to entail. Is this a fairly simple process or is it very involved to the point that it is best to call out a repair person? It is a Whirlpool, received for a wedding gift 15 years ago. The model # is LA5550XTWO. I have been noticing over the past month or so that the clothes have still maintained a bit of water after the spin cycle so I have been putting it through the spin cycle twice before taking them out to dry. I am fairly handy (much more so than my husband!), have rewired numerous light fixtures and usually request new power tools for gift-giving opportunities. I just need to know what, if the coupler is actually the problem, this repair will entail and if I should pass this on to someone more qualified. I'd appreciate your input. Thanks!
