How can I remove varnished wallpaper?I have an old house, and on the stairs and living room there are 4 layers wallpaper, of which the undermost is varnished. I've tried various combinations of scoring, wire brusing, steaming, hot air gun and sanding, and the stuff still only comes off in at most thumbnail sized pieces. I'm at my wits end.
