I have a 3200F which was not locked when delivered to me (second hand). When trying to scan the scan head/light beam only moves down about 30mm. No strange noises or anything else to report. It doesn't seem to be a software problem as I have gone through all the diagnostics with Canon.
I get a message:
Cannot scan for the following reasons:
- The original may not be set correctly
- The film adaptor unit protective sheet may be in place
- The lamp may not be warmed (etc)
None of the above apply
I think you will find that you have your scanning software set to scan a slide or film? Check that you are set to scan the whole platen.
I am trying to scan slides and I am getting the same message but if I go to scan A4 there is no problem :o(
Not much help from me, I have the same scanner Canoscan 3200 F which worked just fine last week. This week I got the same message as you. I have a macbook pro intel mac with osx installed, and I run windows xp with parallels and I have tried to install drivers etc., in both windows and osx, but no luck. I use the app Vuescan with my scanner, and it used to work nicely, but now neither Vuescan or the scanningprogram from Canon works. My conclusion so far is that there must be something mechanically wrong with the scanner. I would also appreciate any help with this question....
